$185 Million In Convention Business Comes To Chicago In April

(Chicago, IL)-March 15, 2005- For the month of April, the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau (CCTB) has 51 conventions, trade shows and other meetings on record. According to Marc Anderson, Managing Director, Convention Sales, "These events are expected to attract 173,195 attendees, who will spend an estimated $185 million while in the city of Chicago."

Following are the highlights:

ASSOCIATION FOR SUPERVISION & CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT

Over 13,000 delegates will meet at McCormick Place for the Association for Supervision & Curriculum Development's Annual Conference and Exhibit Show. The show will be held April 1-3 and is expected to generate $12 million in direct expenditures for the city of Chicago.


This three-day meeting is the education industry's premier professional development event and will offer nearly 600 sessions of networking and learning opportunities.

NEXPO 2006

NEXPO® 2006 will be held at McCormick Place April 1-4. It is expected to attract 6,000 delegates and generate an estimated $8 million in direct expenditures for the city of Chicago.


NEXPO is the world's largest annual newspaper and exhibition conference, showcasing industry products and services. This four-day conference and trade show features more than 6,000 newspaper technology and operations professionals and related suppliers.

NATIONAL SCHOOL BOARDS ASSOCIATION

One of three events Chicago was able to host in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the National School Boards Association will host its Annual Conference April 8-11 at McCormick Place. It is expected to attract 13,000 delegates and bring an estimated $12 million in direct expenditures to the city of Chicago.


The conference will feature the most innovative, valuable, and successful approaches and practices for raising student success and feature inspiring speakers including General Colin L. Powell and Jane Goodall.

BIO 2006 ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION

BIO 2006 will be held at McCormick Place April 9-12. It is expected to attract 20,000 delegates who will bring an estimated $28 million in direct expenditures to the city of Chicago.


BIO 2006 is the world's premier biotechnology convention. It will host more than 1,500 exhibiting companies, organizations and institutions in the field of biotechnology and accommodate over 10,000 one-on-one site meetings.

KITCHEN/BATH INDUSTRY SHOW

Over 60,000 delegates will meet at McCormick Place for the Kitchen/Bath Industry Show. The show will be held April 21-23 and is expected to generate $56 million in direct expenditures for the city of Chicago.


With more than 900 exhibitors, Kitchen/Beth Industry Show is the largest and most comprehensive tradeshow for the kitchen and bath industry. The industry-leading show is the ultimate source of kitchen and bath products, designs, trends and ideas.
