(Chicago, IL)-September 19, 2006- For the month of October 2006, the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau (CCTB) has 42 conventions, tradeshows and other meetings on record. “Chicago is experiencing a great year for tourism with overall visitor numbers and spending up significantly.” Said Mark Theis, CCTB’s Executive Vice President, Sales “These events for the month of October are expected to attract 287,925 attendees, who will spend an estimated $458 million while in the city of Chicago.”
Following are the highlights:
ISSA/INTERCLEAN USA 2006
The International Sanitary Supply Association (ISSA), the leading association for the cleaning industry, will gather at McCormick Place October 4-7 for ISSA/INTERCLEAN USA 2006. It is expected to attract 20,000 delegates and generate an estimated $28 million in direct expenditures for the city of Chicago.
The ISSA/INTERCLEAN exhibition is the largest event, featuring the newest technologies, equipment, products and services available in the cleaning and maintenance industry. Attendees from over 80 countries will have the opportunity to visit more than 650 exhibitors that will occupy 600,000 square feet of exhibit space. ISSA attracts top decision-makers from leading janitorial distribution companies.
AMERICAN COLLEGE OF SURGEONS
The American College of Surgeons will host its 92nd Annual Clinical Congress October 8-12 at McCormick Place. It is expected to attract over 16,000 delegates and generate an estimated $31 million for the city of Chicago.
The Clinical Congress will feature the Scientific Exhibit, a forum of more than 150 exhibits complete with innovative surgical practices and teaching methods. It will also feature the Technical Exhibition, complete with 250 companies displaying their products and services geared towards scientific developments in surgery.
AMERICAN SOCIETY OF ANESTHESIOLOGISTS
More than 17,000 attendees will meet at McCormick Place for the American Society of Anesthesiologists Annual Meeting. The meeting will take place October 14-18 and is expected to generate an estimated $32 million for the city of Chicago.
Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in educational panels, clinical forums, refresher course lectures, general and special sessions and workshops during this five-day meeting.
GRAPH EXPO® AND CONVERTING EXPO®
Graph Expo and Converting Expo will meet October 15-18 at McCormick Place. It is expected to attract 40,000 delegates and generate an estimated $56 million for the city of Chicago.
For four days, graphic designers, printers and publishing professionals will learn about the latest technological developments from the industries leading companies at the nation’s most comprehensive prepress, printing, converting and digital equipment tradeshow and conference.
PACK EXPO INTERNATIONAL
PACK EXPO will take place October 29-November 2 at McCormick Place. 50,000 delegates are expected, bringing in an estimated $134 million for the city of Chicago.
Pack Expo 2006 will feature over 1600 companies from over 70 countries utilizing 1.2 million square feet of exhibit space. Process Expo, in conjunction with PACK EXPO, will focus on the latest developments in processing technology and identify today’s challenges faced by the food and beverage industry. Also taking place during Pack Expo is Converting & Packaging Printing Expo (CPP Expo), a leading event for equipment manufactures/suppliers and converters/buyers alike. These three shows in one offer the most the extensive offering of equipment, products, services and supplies.
