(Chicago, IL)-August 15, 2006-For the month of September 2006, the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau (CCTB) has 47 conventions, trade shows and other meetings on record. These events are expected to attract 201,440 attendees, who will spend an estimated $278 million while in the city of Chicago.
Following are the highlights:
American Society of Muslims
The American Society of Muslims will gather at Hyatt Regency Chicago for Mosque Cares’ Muslim Convention of 2006. The show will be held August 30-September 4 and is expected to generate an estimated $14 million for the city of Chicago.
The convention is sponsored by W.D.M. Ministry and celebrates 30 Years of Noble Leadership featuring major addresses by Imam W. Deen Mohammed. 2006 marks the 30th year the Muslim Convention has been held in the city of Chicago. The closing ceremony will take place at UIC Pavilion.
Association for Manufacturing Technology
The Association for Manufacturing Technology will host its International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) September 6-13 at McCormick Place. It is expected to attract 90,000 delegates and generate an estimated $168 million in direct expenditures for the city of Chicago.
This eight-day conference features the largest displays of manufacturing equipment in one location, making it easy for attendees to research the products and services in one location. Attendees will also be able to gain valuable ideas and insight from over 1,200 of the world’s leading manufacturing producers.
International Bar Association Conference
Over 3,000 attendees will meet at McCormick Place for the International Bar Association Conference. The show, which will be held September 17-22, is expected to generate an estimated $6 million for the city of Chicago.
For six-days, McCormick Place will be the gathering place for legal practitioners, top-level industry professionals and business contacts who will network with colleagues, debate world issues facing the profession and showcase industry-leading products, services and solutions.
HIDA 2006 MedSurg Conference & Expo
Health Industry Distributor’s Association (HIDA) will hold its HIDA 2006 MedSurg Conference & Expo at Navy Pier September 19-21. It is expected to attract 10,000 people and generate an estimated $9 million for the city of Chicago.
Attendees will have the opportunity to visit more with than 300 exhibitors displaying more than 10,000 industry products. Educational programs will offer manufacturers and distributors an opportunity to explore the industry’s most critical issues, strengthen skills, exchange ideas and learn new strategies.
The Motivation Show
The Motivation Show will take place September 26-28 at McCormick Place. It is expected to attract 20,000 attendees and generate an estimated $19 million for the city of Chicago.
The Motivation Show is the world’s largest exhibition of motivational products and services related to all aspects of people’s performance in business. Attendees will learn firsthand innovative ways to motivate employees by learning about incentive and recognition programs, recognition awards, motivational destinations and promotional products.
The In-Store Marketing Expo
More than 5,000 attendees will meet at McCormick Place September 27-28 at McCormick Place. The biggest trade event dedicated to in-store marketing is expected to generate $3 million for the city of Chicago.
In-Store Marketing Expo will feature nearly 200 in-store suppliers, two dozen seminars and a variety of unique networking opportunities. The Expo is formatted to help marketing professionals build brands, drive sales, increase traffic and find valuable solutions for their businesses.
Messe Frankfurt’s ISH North America
Messe Frankfurt’s ISH North America will meet at McCormick Place September 28-30. It is expected to attract 17,000 delegates and generate an estimated $16 million for the city of Chicago.
ISH North America is an international trade show for kitchen & bath, plumbing, commercial and industrial pipes, valves and fittings, heating and air conditioning. It is the only North American trade show that consolidates these industries into one trade show. The show is home to over 500 exhibitors from 17 countries and a strong attendee base that encompasses over 30 countries.
